• Henchmen

Henchmen are doing the dirty work of bringing real rock and roll back to the forefront of todays stale, cookie cutter, music scene. Their sound is as hard hitting and ruthless as their name implies. Drawing from a never ending list of musical influences, Henchmen have created a sound that exudes nothing but pure rock, with no rules or boundaries. Isn't that the way rock n roll should be?

• Gray Byrd

Gray Byrd was born into a family of musicians, tried his best to never to do it. Then, in 2001, he was inspired. Now he plays music every chance he gets - plays every where, places no one else wants to, times no one else would consider. In the secret closets and back porches, the woods and the street corners.

• Jake Melnyk & Patrick Turner with Sarah Howell

Jake Melnyk blends acoustic and pop rock with an occasional inspirational twist. On this night he's playing with his friend, Carrboro's own Patrick Turner. They're joined by Sarah Howell, who's favorite sounds include the one your fingers make when sliding up acoustic guitar strings, the one a guitar pick makes as it clicks while strumming, and the one that happens when you shift piano pedals.

• Joe Mejer

Donning a motley of musical influences from Arlo Guthrie to Outkast, Joe Mejer's music fuses the fun with the madness, the anxiety with the despair, and the revolution with the guitar.

• Pagan Hellcats cd release party

Thanks to Chris Parker and The Independent for the nice review: "...this quartet relies on the basics - well-written songs, beguiling, hook-laden arrangements and fine vocals. Guitarists Dave Rutter and Diane Rodelli trade songs and lead vocals, harmonizing over Americana that ranges from folk-blues to ragged barroom rock....songcraft more enduring than colorful dress-up."
